Tikis, toucans, and tropical drinks. Nightclub and dancing for a gay old time. Lots of boys and everytime we’ve gone there is a nice fun LGBT mix.Old,young, locals, and vistors. There is a Sundays ladies night. Did you know Palm Springs has a 40% LGBT population? So, don’t forget your rainbow flags and party ’til your toes curl up…

Here is an article on the latest drama surrounding this amazing building. I wanted to check out the restaurant , but hadn’t had a chance. Oh well, it is an amazing structure and a must see on your drivebys when visiting the Springs. It should be worth a visit to the bar and we”ll just have to check out the new menu which is Asian themed? So, I would think if the name has Island in it, that would imply a tropical polynesian type menu? But hey, I guess it’s still a little bananaz….

Here’s a pretty good link for most of the touristy activities. I’m a little perplexed with the whalewatching, but, hey, it’s a short 90 minute drive. Need less to say you would be a short 90 minutes away from a lot of activities in L.A. as well. Right? Also, ostrich and camel racing ?? OK, but still a good site–http://www.palmsprings.com/active.html

Funky and eclectic. Yep, if you consider yourselves a trendster then this is the place to stay. There’s bitchin stuff like vespa rentals, record players in the rooms, hammocks , fireplaces in your patio, and liquor filled snow cones served from a vintage trailer. Lots of fun and a throwback to the 70′s. Theres a retro’d diner that used to be a Dennys and a cave like den/bar called the Amigo room. http://www.acehotel.com/palmsprings

So, when looking for a danish modern dining table, the prices seemed to be ,well, high! We just happened to wander into a ReStore and found it has ALL kinds of cool leftovers from dismantled homes. We saw this poor dining set that had been chewed on by someones dog(or dogs). The price? 150.00$ Restorable? Hell yeah. We hired Jesus! He worked miracles on this set. Patched up and revarnished, it ‘s fabulous- Only 100$ for the miracle! This baby came with 2 leaves and can probably seat 12! But anyhow–Restore is the bomb baby! And goes to a great cause! Habitat for Humanity -check your closest ReStore!

OK, so since we moved here, we’ve been a bit obsessed with the whole Palm Springs swingin’ sixties era. And under fabulous finds we found this DVD in our search for all things Palm Springs retro. Several scenes feature the original Riviera hotel. The transformation of this hotel since then has kept the spirit of the era intact, yet, incorporates the best of modern day design. Beeeaaautiful–

“Tiki has never been so hot”
A fabulous blast of Tiki architecture and tropical themed decor from1964. Check out their site for details on pet friendly accomodations. However the segway here is for and event called Tiki Caliente, initially hosted at Caliente Tropics. The event has moved, but we’re looking forward to this relatively new venue for a retro theme thats getting hot. Yeah, tiki baby!
